Leash.

IFRS 16 & ASC 842 lease accounting for finance teams

Stop building lease schedules in Excel.Close every month audit-ready.

If your leases live in spreadsheets, every modification means a rebuilt schedule and every audit starts with “where did this number come from?” Leash calculates every lease, posts one journal per period and keeps the trail your auditors ask for. We do the migration.

How it works

From Excel to audit-ready in one process

The same five steps every period, from the first import to the locked month-end.

  1. 1

    Import your existing leases

We load your lease register and spreadsheets into Leash for you. No re-keying by your team.

  2. 2

    Reconcile opening balances

We agree Leash's opening liability and right-of-use asset balances to your current ledger before go-live.

  3. 3

    Run monthly accounting

Interest, depreciation, payments and the current / non-current split are calculated for every lease, every period.

  4. 4

    Generate journals

One journal per company per period, mapped to your chart of accounts, with every line traceable to a lease.

  5. 5

    Lock, report, export

Lock the period, export schedules, journals and disclosures to Excel, and hand your auditors the trail.

Leash company journal for one reporting period

Built for the awkward leases

Simple leases are easy in any tool. Leash is built for the ones that break your spreadsheet.

Modifications

Changes in scope, term or consideration, remeasured from the effective date.

Escalations

Fixed-percentage escalations and custom payment schedules.

Remeasurements

Reassessments of term, options and payments, with the schedule rebuilt forward.

Terminations

Early terminations, derecognition and the resulting gain or loss.

Intercompany leases

Both sides of the lease tracked, and eliminated in the group view.

Lessor accounting

Finance and operating leases, alongside your lessee portfolio.

Exemptions

Short-term and low-value leases expensed straight-line, kept in the same register.

Custom reporting periods

Monthly, quarterly or a year-end that isn't December.

For group finance

Built for group finance

Run every subsidiary's leases in one place and get the group numbers without a consolidation spreadsheet.

  • Every company in the group under one account
  • Switch between a single lease, a company and the consolidated group
  • Intercompany leases eliminated on consolidation
  • Consolidation journals for each group reporting period
  • Company and group disclosure reports, exported to Excel

Implementation

We do the migration. You check it.

Moving lease accounting is the risky part, so we don't hand you an empty system and a help centre.

  • We load your existing leases from your spreadsheets or lease register
  • We agree opening balances to your ledger before you go live
  • We map journals to your chart of accounts and existing systems
  • Your team reviews and signs off before anything is posted

You don't pay until you're happy.

No payment until you're satisfied with onboarding. Cancel at any point up to go-live, no questions asked.

Lease numbers end up in audited financial statements. Here is why you can rely on ours.

Every number traces back

Each journal line drills down to the lease and schedule behind it, and all of it exports to Excel for your auditors.

Closed periods stay closed

Lock a reporting period once it's signed off. What you reported is what your auditors will find.

Zero take-on differences

Before go-live we agree Leash's opening balances to your ledger, so switching systems doesn't have to move your reported numbers.

60 technical guides

We publish how IFRS 16 and ASC 842 actually work, from discount rates to modifications. Judge our understanding of the standard for yourself.
